We will finish up learning about the classification of animals this week. The kids will be completing a science literature circle on Tuesday. The kids will be finishing up their packets this week. On Friday, the kids will be presenting their animal posters to the class.

Reading:
We didn’t get to start our new novel last week. We will start Sign of the Beaver on Tuesday.

Don’t forget about that January book report! Remember, historical fiction, diorama, follow the requirements on the rubric… This project is due on Tuesday, January 31st.

The kids need 20 AR points this quarter. Challenge your child to read a variety of books this quarter! Broaden those horizons!

Vocabulary:
We are moving on to Unit10 this week.

FYI:
  • Smart clubs start on Friday.

·       Please send your child’s report card envelope back to school this week.

Table Talk Questions:
1.     Test your child! Can they turn a fraction into a decimal and then into a percent???
2.     Have your child update you on what is happening in The Sign of the Beaver.
3.     Discuss our new novel, Sign of the Beaver. Have them tell you what has happened so far. Discuss Matt's father's decision to leave him alone in Maine to guard the cabin and field of corn. Was that a good decision? What do you predict happens? How have children changed since then (less responsibilities?)
