The First Day

The first day of 5th grade is over and the kids did great! The day just flew by and we couldn't believe that they day was over at noon.

We started out the day with our daily creative writing. I got to hear about all the fun things that the students did over the summer (even though many were too shy to share.) I have hung a clothesline in the classroom to display pictures, student work, art projects, ect... I told the students to bring in a picture of something fun that they did this summer and we will hang them on the clothesline. Please send in a picture with your child by next week.

We all attended Mass together today from 9-10:15. I think the kids enjoyed their new seats in church! Please feel free to join us during our weekly Mass on Fridays. (We will not have Mass on this Friday because we had it today.)

After Mass, the kids got a "back to school treat" from the Cafe staff. Then we headed over to the gym and played a balloon pop game that I prepared for the kids. They LOVED it and asked to play it again soon.
I think that the kids were most excited about getting the combination locks for their lockers. They were so happy! Have them practice at home, and when they have it mastered, they can put it on their locker.

It was a GREAT first day and am expecting a GREAT first week. I can't believe that I didn't get any pictures to post on today's blog. You can tell that it was a BUSY day! I will have pictures and videos up this week.

Dont' forget to "join my blog." :)
